Can you believe that some High Street Retailers are STILL using piercing guns in this day and age?! Honestly it irks me, and here’s why…

Reasons Why I Refuse to Use…
Being pierced with a piercing gun is not only barbaric, but the whole procedure is disgusting, it makes me want to vom!!! These so called ‘Piercing Guns’ are NOT sterile, they cant be sterilized, EVER… Due to being made out of plastic, plastic items can not be put through an autoclave because they would melt. Blurgh!!!!
Here’s a little science lesson for you…

How an autoclave works :- Autoclaves work in a similar way to a pressure cooker (we’ve all heard of those, right?), they ‘cook’ in a more extreme manner. Autoclaves blast bugs and germs on items used, with steam long enough to sterilize them. The extra pressure in an autoclave means that water boils at a temperature higher then its normal boiling point which is roughly 20*C hotter, so it holds and carries more heat and kills microbes more effectively. A lengthy blast of high-pressure steam is much more effective at penetrating and sterilizing things then a quick wipe with hot water.

Here’s the juicy part… Piercing guns actually forcibly push the blunt pin of the earring through ear tissue, causing pain, possible shattering of cartilage (top of ear, and nostril), redness, swelling and blood particles to become air-born… VOM! How gross is that!!!! Not only are those blood particles now air-born, some will have landed on the piercing gun itself, just think how many other peoples air-born blood is on it… YUCK!

A lot of Professional Piercers do not pierce children below a certain age, I do as I’d rather a parent come to me to pierce their child’s ears correctly with disposable needles and disposable clamps, and with the fact that I have been trained in human anatomy, then go to a High Street Retailer who will used hazardous materials.
